NEW DELHI:Â East Delhi Municipal Corporation has sought more land for its Construction and Demolition waste processing facility at Shastri Park, Delhi.
Recently, LG Anil Baijal visited this treatment facility and asked official to find out the possibilities of increasing the plant capacity. Currently the plant can process about 500 metric ton of waste per day. A proposal to acquire a surrounding 2.5-acre DDA plot, which has 1.8 lakh metric tonne debris lying on it, has been sent to LG’s office. After acquiring this land the capacity of plant could be increased to 1000 metric ton per day.
This land has been a spot of bother for Shastri Park Plant as often complaints were received about fugitive dust emissions from this virtual mountain of Construction and Demolition waste material. Now after acquiring this land, waste could be well managed and more waste could be processed per day. This processed waste is converted into useful construction material, bricks, tiles and is saving both resources and energy. Apart from this plant, one other Construction and Demolition waste plant is located at Jahangipuri. To meet the rate of generation of C &D waste, several C & D Waste plant are also upcoming  at Siraspur, Libaspur, Rani Khera,  Chara Mandi.
