Nashik: Nashik police has banned bursting crackers making noise 125dB (Decibels) or above beyond 4 meters. The ban will be effective till the night of November 6.
The police has warned of taking strict action against any violations. The offenders may face imprisonment as well as fine, a police officer said.
Bursting of firecrackers impact the air quality, cause noise pollution, and even poses a serious harm to human life. The police said that there are certain restrictions on bursting firecrackers under the Environment (Protection) Act 1986.
All firecrackers-selling stalls should be on the ground and every person putting up a stall should have secured permission from the concerned departments. A firecracker seller will not be able to keep stock of more than 100 Kgs of firecrackers and 400 kgs of decorative crackers, officials informed.
As per guidelines, every firecracker stall should at least be three meters away from the other firecracker stall. No kind of lamp should be lit at the stall while all the arrangement of electricity supply should be done properly and approved from the electricity inspector.
The police said firecrackers should not be burst from 10 pm to 6 am, further they should not be burst in silence zones and within 100 meters of hospitals, educational institutes, petrol pumps, stock of kerosene and stock of other inflammable products.
Firecrackers should be burst in open places only and not in crowded places. In no condition a firecracker should create noise beyond 125 decibels. Crackers known as ‘Aapti bar’ and ‘Ukhli Daru’ are banned as per the SC directive. Citizens should also not carry foreign crackers.
