HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT RULES

Hazardous Waste means any waste which by reason of characteristics such as physical, chemical, biological, reactive, toxic, flammable, explosive or corrosive, causes danger or is likely to cause danger to health or environment, whether alone or in contact with other wastes or substances.

Hazardous Waste Management rules have been enforced for safe handling, collection, reception, treatment, transport, storage, reuse, recycling, recovery, pre-processing, utilisation including co-processing and disposal of hazardous wastes generated.

HAZARDOUS WASTE AUTHORIZATION

Hazardous Waste authorisation means permission for generation, handling, collection, reception, treatment, transport, storage, reuse, recycling, recovery, pre-processing, utilisation including co-processing and disposal of hazardous wastes.

ANNUAL RETURN HAZARDOUS WASTE

The annual return for Hazardous Waste shall contain information regarding quantity waste generated/ stored/ recycled/ processes/ utilize or disposed per annum and shall submit the same to the State Pollution Control Board/ Pollution Control Committee in Form 4, on or before the 30th June of every year following the financial year to which that return relates.

Forms for Hazardous Waste Record, Returns, Label, Disposal

FORM 3: The occupier handling hazardous or other wastes and operator of disposal facility shall maintain records of such operations in Form 3.
FORM 4: The occupier handling hazardous or other wastes and operator of disposal facility, shall prepare and submit to the State Pollution Control Board, an annual return containing the details specified in Form 4 on or before the 30th day of June following the financial year to which that return relates.
FORM 8: The occupier shall label the hazardous and other wastes containers as per Form 8.
FORM 9: The occupier shall provide the transporter with the relevant information in Form 9, regarding the hazardous nature of the wastes and measures to be taken in case of an emergency.
FORM 10 : The sender of the waste shall prepare seven copies of the manifest in Form 10 comprising of colour code and all seven copies shall be signed by the sender.
