India International Water Week - Climate Resilient Water Management
Although nearly 70% of the Earth's surface is covered with water, access to clean and reliable water remains a daily challenge for millions. Rapid population growth, urbanisation. climate change, and depletion of natural resources are intensifying water stress across the globe. Addressing these complex challenges demands collective action that goes beyond individual institutions or sectors. Collaborative partnerships enable inclusive, innovative, and sustainable water management strategies by integrating diverse perspectives, local knowledge, and long-term resilience planning. Such cooperation strengthens water systems, promotes efficient resource allocation, and supports socio-economic and environmental well-being.
In this context, the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, is organising the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) - 2026, with a focus on "Climate Resilient Water Management."
Conceptualised in 2012, India International Water Week is a premier global event organised biennially by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. It serves as India's flagship international platform for dialogue, innovation, and cooperation in the water sector. Previous editions were successfully held in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2024, bringing together policymakers, experts, practitioners and stakeholders from across the world.
The Second International WASH Conference 2026 will also be held from 22-24 September 2026 as part of the India International Water Week (22-26 September 2026) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The conference brings together experts, researchers, and practitioners to address key challenges in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), promoting scalable, affordable and sustainable solutions through interdisciplinary collaboration.
